The first Shoe City store opened in Bellville in 1986 in an industrial warehouse of 500 m2 - and was an instant success. By 2000 there were 65 stores - with no signs of stopping.

In 2005, Shoe City became part of a much bigger family - the Pepkor Group - facilitating even further expansion. By 2007, 95 stores had opened nationwide, and, as shopping malls became family destinations, Shoe City shook off its industrial roots, revamped its look and put its best foot forward. Our new generation stores offered our customers an exciting shopping experience.
